PSX hosts visit from officers from National Defence University

Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) hosted a visit of more than 200 officers from National Defence University. The officers included Pakistan Armed Forces Officers, Civil Service Officers, and Military Officers from friendly countries. The officers were welcomed by the Chairperson PSX, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar; PSX Board members; COO PSX, Mr. Nadir Rahman, and PSX senior management team. The NDU delegation was led by Major General Rahat Naseem.

The officers were briefed about the macro economic situation of Pakistan and the role of PSX in contributing to the economy. The attendees were also informed about Pakistan’s capital market with respect to the recent developments, products and offerings available at the Stock Exchange. Mr. Nadir Rahman delivered a presentation to apprise the NDU officers and faculty about the economy in general and the capital market activities in particular. The officers were apprised about the recent innovations introduced by PSX to spur market activity & growth such as relaunch of Sahulat Account to facilitate small investors like students and housewives, Online Account Opening to facilitate ease in account opening through digital platform, digitised listing portal called PRIDE, and the provision of trading platform in Shariah-compliant securities for REI customers of Roshan Digital Account. Furthermore, the officers were informed that there were approx. 300,000 investors who directly invest on the Stock Exchange. PSX is making efforts to increase the investor base in that we are already seeing some positive results in this regard on account of introduction of online account opening facilitation, amongst other digitally disruptive tools and utilities for the capital market. A Q&A session where the questions of the attendees were addressed by Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Mr. Nadir Rahman, and Ms. Raeda Latif, also took place. This session highlighted the interest of the participants in the discussion and presentation delivered. On behalf of the NDU delegation, Major General Rahat Naseem thanked the PSX team for their warm welcome and insightful briefing. Towards the end, mementos were exchanged between the PSX and NDU management.
